Dennis Ombachi

Dennis Ombachi is a former Rugby Sevens player, popularly known as the roaming chef. He previously represented the country in several big tournaments, including the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

After hanging up his boots around 2020, he reinvented himself as a self-taught chef, gaining prominence across social media platforms.

On social media, Ombachi has become visible, gaining thousands of followers on TikTok, where he shares his cooking videos with the "Done" catchphrase.

Besides cooking, Ombachi once opened up about his personal struggles with mental health issues, in particular the bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is a condition characterised by extreme shifts in mood, energy and activity level.

He has been able to use his platforms, including TikTok, where he has about two million followers, to inspire fellow Kenyans, educate and advocate against mental health issues.

This year, he headlined the 2025 edition of a Taste of Thai promotion. The showcase, held on  February 22, 2025, was organised by the office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi.

It was part of a month-long series of activities by the embassy that concluded on March 9, 2025. During the event, Kenyans, who had visited the mall for different activities, got a taste of Thailand’s best cuisine, including soup varieties.

In the event, senior officials from the Royal Thai Embassy were present, including the Minister Counsellor Natthapong Senanarong and Wannaporn Senanarong of the embassy's Office of Commercial Affairs.
